Module 7: Video Review

In the video “Architecture: The Science of Design”, buildings have certain components that makes them withstand natural elements such as the wind, and there are certain regulations and planning needed before they are built. When planning for the building, but also study the risks that weather and earthquakes can have in the building’s location.

In the video “Frank Gehry: Architecture as Art”, Gehry developed his own architecture vocabulary. Also, Gehry started working with homes first where he experimented with designs that he eventually inspired larger projects. Gehry also was concerned with the building and location, prioritized the use of natural light, and the connection between the building and the used.

The videos relate to the reading as the reading discusses structural systems in architecture, which are what makes a structure have its features as well as gives its function.

Both of the videos that I have watched seem old but is very informative on architecture. The videos add more information including the importance of Frank Gehry and his contributions to architecture.

I chose to watch the first video because I was interested in learning more about Frank Gehry. After watching the video, I learned more about the contributions he has made for architecture. Furthermore, I chose to watch the second video because it was interesting to see how architecture is carefully planned because there are natural elements that need to be considered.
